BACH FLOWER

Edward Bach was born on 24th September 1886, in Moseley a village near Birmingham, England. Studied at Birmingham University College Hospital, graduated in 1912. 1914 received a diploma of Public Health at Cambridge. In1919, he was appointed Pathologist & Bacteriologist at the London Homeopathic Hospital. Now with his degree in homeopathy & his work in bacteriology he produced the seven Bach Nosodes.
He was a saintly person with devout faith in God and his creation - the Nature. He found Homeopathy a very complicated system remembering the drug pictures of innumerable medicines, to match them with disease symptoms of patients, then to find the correct potency, etc., His belief in nature and God lead him to spend six long years in jungle and ravines, collecting information about how various plants and their flowers situated in isolated places save themselves and thrived inspite of nature-rain-storms, tempest, sunshine, clouds, cold, etc., He collected several plants and flowers and produced the 38 medicines corresponding to possible changes of mans moods. These are called the Bach Flower medicines. Dr Bach stressed the importance of inner healing i.e. healing the whole person, not just physical aspects. He believed that there is strong link between the healing process and the state of mind of the patient. Each Bach remedy holds a specific type or level of external life force energy, vibrating at a certain frequency, which directly corresponds with
the negative internal life force energy – which has created the negative state of mind.Bach Flower preparation utilizes the delicate flower heads, or whole twigs with flowers and generates healing power by the application of heat. Flower heads are floated in water and exposed to the sun for several hours, while twigs are boiled for maximum extraction of healing effect. There is no succession & only water is used as the medium of the medicine. Alcohol is added as a preservative. The subtle extraction of the Bach essences reflects the refinement and delicacy of the spiritual and mental/emotional indications, whereas the vigorously gained homeopathic medicine aim more powerfully at the physical tissues and addresses more broadly defined mental/emotional dynamics. Bach remedies can be great support to spiritual development and personal growth. If we believe that all illnesses have their roots in the mind, we could also say that using Flower medicines is a form of preventive medicine, since they help us develop the positive qualities and abandon or minimize negative attitudes and energies. An obstruction in the harmonious working of the soul, mind and body in the form of negative energy and thoughts causes a man to fall ill. And if this obstruction is allowed to persist the physical illness gets more deep rooted and thereby becoming chronic. The importance of mental symptoms has been well recognized and accepted in homeopathy by our Masters. Where homeopathy deals with the mind & body; the Bach Flower remedies aim more specifically at negative mental and emotional states. It has been proved that if dispensed together i.e. homeopathy drugs and Bach Flower medicines - the results of cure are much better and quicker.
A patient’s outlook towards his illness definitely affects his overall progress of recovery - example if he has a feeling of despair or fears regarding has illness and its cure, this negative state of mind creates a block and thus hinders recovery. Flower remedies help in removing such negative blocks thus helping in curing the patient. Bach Flower remedies have proved useful in all types of cases e.g. diabetes, hypertension, insomnia, menstrual problems, sexual in competencies, ulcers, teething complaints, all kinds of pains and other stress oriented problems.
Initially in his study of physically ill people Dr Bach observed 7 different types of personalities. He noticed that the temperament of person was crucial in the outcome of cure. Close examination of patient in view of the similarities of physical diseases led to the discovery of 7 different intestinal floras - each on typical for one particular type of personality. The relation between digestion & emotions has always been same – eg. The gut feeling or sensation of butterflies in stomach before an examination or going on the stage or cramps or diarrohoea before stress or shock, etc., These bowel nosodes are called the Bach Nosodes helped to remove the chronic disease tendency within the body.
